HELOC paydown status

Yee haw! Check out the very bottom of this blog...over 1/3rd of teh paydown goal completed! Plus I realized that I also need to start saving up well in advance for our property taxes (trying to scramble and pay off a $6000 property tax bill last minute is no easy task!) so there's 1/6th of that is put aside now as well.

Damn you crappy housing market...I will not go down without a fight.

So with all the rate cuts there is no way you & Kraig could refinance into a better loan situation?

Boy, I always thought my property taxes were bad but DANG I think you & Mat have some of the highest in the group! My taxes are a little over $4500 a year so $2200 each time I pay. I put $250 away each check into an interest bearing savings account to save just for my property taxes & my homeowners insurance.

I thought the housing market was complicated here in Canada... hells no, you cross the board and things seem a bit better but thanks to the lovely concept of Globalization the sub-prime garbage that the U.S is going through is rippling throughout the world. CIBC (one of Canada's big banks) took on some other cash through the selling of shares to build up it's coffers to protect itself from people defaulting on their mortgages. I'm sure I got some of the terms wrong but it's just freaking scary the amount of money people sink into their homes.

A week doesn't go by I don't wonder why I'm still not renting then again I wouldn't have this 'asset'. Short term, itty-bitty pain for long term gain? Probably.

What's the HELOC loan for anyhow?

Good job on doing so well at the progress Sabina and Kraig. :)

Thanks Bryan :)

The HELOC loan is 'cause...well welcome to crazy california overpriced real estate. In order to get a house, pretty much everyone I know had to get a regular loan, and then a home loan (i.e. no one could get a loan for the full value of their home...at least, no one I know in orange county who bought in the same year i did)...
