Star Wars: Cliff Notes

An email I sent a friend telling her she HAD to see Revenge of the Sith, and that she could totally watch it without watching the other movies...my summary for her:

Yep, it’s that good…you don’t need ot watch all of them, but it helps to have seen Star Wars...otherwise, it’s pretty straightforward: from Star Wars to Return of the Jedi, it’s basically that Darth Vader is an ass and he’s ruling the world ‘cause he’s the only dude on the dark side with the force…and then this kid Luke Skywalker learns the force from his “uncle ben” and yoda (both of whom are Jedis)…and then they go to save Princess Leia, and then it turns out they’re brother sister and that Darth Vader is Luke’s dad, and Darth Vader is all jacked up and wears that suit, and Luke kills him and everything is back to normal.

Then if you go back to Episodes 1 and 2, basically it’s just “Uncle Ben” when he was younger, he and some other Jedis find Anakin Skywalker (who we guess is luke skywalker’s dad, and thus, going to be Darth Vader), and the Jedi’s are like the peacekeepers and everything is all fine and dandy and they train Anakin…and Anakin gets his groove on with Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) and we figure that since she’s the only chick in the movie, she must be Luke Skywalker’s mom…anyway turns out this whole democratic way of life gets all jacked up by this one dude who was secretly creating all these armies…

That’s pretty much it. So the 3rd movie explains how the “good” way of life got messed up, how Anakin turned evil, how Luke and Leia got separated from their mom, and why there’s no Jedis left, and the “fall of democracy” yadda yadda.
